Safety and Self Defence Tips

If you’re an older adult living on your own, or care for an older person living alone, come and learn some safety and self-defence tips. Tommy of Fitlife will teach some basic self-defence moves, while a member of the Victorian Police will give some advice on how to safety proof your home.

Bike Maintenance Course

Do you know how to fix a puncture or test the tyre pressure on your bike? Or how to remove or replace the wheels, or oil the chain?

This summer we are running free workshops to show you how to keep your bike up and running. And if you don’t have the tools, not to worry – we have installed a bike repair station at the Marie Wallace Reserve which has all the tools you’ll need to maintain your bike, where you a can practice your new skills from the workshop.

Cost: Free (A bike isn’t required to participate) All sessions will cover the same information

Life Cycle 55+ Explore Knox

Life Cycle 55+ Explore is a program for older adults. These rides are all about exploring your local area and take place on Saturdays at 8.30 am from Kings Park in Upper Ferntree Gully. The rides take place on local bike paths, roads or trails and are designed to develop rider confidence, but are also perfect for those who just want to ride.

If you are looking for a fun and a social way to stay active while riding your bike, with the support of a qualified riding leader, this is the perfect way to begin. Everyone is welcome regardless of riding ability!

First 2 rides are free - then $5 a week.

The Laughter Club

The Ferntree Gully Laughter Club is a free community club, that practices ‘laughing for no reason’, which is the best medicine. With regular laughter comes the ability to renew one’s sense of humour and increase feelings of joy.
