Gardens for Harvest Bus Tour

As part of the Knox Seniors Festival, enjoy an exclusive visit to the Knox Community Gardens and Como Gardens, followed by light refreshments.

First stop is Knox Community Gardens which began in 1984 as a Council initiative to allow residents with often small backyards a little more room to garden. The Gardens have since flourished, with many locals having benefitted from the fresh vegies they have grown, the new friends with similar interests they have met and the development of their gardening knowledge.

We'll then move on to Como Gardens. Explore the beautiful gardens that back onto the Dandenong Ranges. This is an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the 16 acre property including Botanical Gardens, Forest Walk, Hobbit House, Teddy Bears Picnic and Fairy Garden. There is also an opportunity to view the vintage car museum and bird aviaries.

Time: 9.15 am to 12.00 pm

Ferntree Gully Cemetery Tour

Guided tour of the historical Ferntree Gully Cemetery. The Cemetery was established in 1873 and is located in the heart of lower Ferntree Gully with the picturesque Dandenong Ranges as its backdrop.

The cemetery has a significant story to tell in the local history of the area. Many pioneers of the district are buried in the cemetery, including the well-known family names of Dobson, Baird and Friberg. You may recognise these names as ward names in the municipality.

Blind as a Bat - evening walking tour

He will bring along bat detectors to enable you to hear these small creatures as they pass overhead. You may even be quick enough to sight them. We will investigate their habitat, discuss their habits, hopefully have an up-close encounter and come across other night creatures along the way.
