 Stamford Park Homestead - Rowville
Stamford Park Redevelopment
What is Stamford Park?
Stamford Park is a 45 hectare site in Rowville, and is mainly open space used previously for grazing and horse agistment. It contains the historic Stamford Park Homestead which was built in 1882.

Who owns Stamford Park?
Knox City Council owns the majority of the land at Stamford Park. Recently, Council sold 4.8 hectares to a developer, for the construction of a commercial precinct facing Stud Road. As part of the deal, Council also obtained a 0.6 hectare portion of land close to the historic homestead, to provide a larger buffer around it.

What is Knox Council’s plan for Stamford Park?
It is planned to redevelop the Stamford Park site over the next three years into a multi-use precinct comprising commercial, residential, public recreation and open space.

How will the redevelopment be funded?
Knox Council’s objective is to fund the Stamford Park redevelopment from proceeds from the sale of some portions of land at the site.

Will there be an environmentally sustainable approach to development of the site?
A key objective of the redevelopment is to consider environmental sustainability. This will be achieved through a number of measures including water harvesting; environmentally sensitive design and using recycle materials.

Will any Community groups or other organisations be based at Stamford Park?
Knox Council’s vision is to provide an opportunity for the Community to connect at Stamford. The adaptation of the historic Homestead for example, will consider how best to facilitate use by a wide range of community groups.
