Ferntree Gully Community Arts Centre

The Ferntree Gully Community Arts Centre is located at the base of the Dandenong Ranges, nestled in a peaceful bushland setting with native gardens.

It is a hub of activity and creativity offering a program of art classes for adults and children with a focus on clay, gentle fitness activities and school holiday workshops.

The venue is also available for community groups to hire for meetings and events.

Watch out for our exciting school holiday program, offering a range of engaging, entertaining and creative experiences. Workshops are educational and fun for all ages, including story time and craft for the little ones and our very popular pottery classes. Art and craft classes

Painting at Ferntree Gully Community Arts Centre

Acrylics and Oil painting with Martina Cleven

This course covers a broad spectrum of oil painting including still life and landscapes, mixing and build up of colour and the development of composition and dimension. Classes are suitable for beginners and advanced, as every student receives individual tuition working at their own level.

Monday 1:30 – 3:30pm
Monday 7:00 – 9:00pm

Term 2:

Watercolours, pastels & drawing with Farimah Eshragi

This course will develop skills and techniques utilising watercolours, pastels and drawing and is suitable for both experienced and beginner students.

Wednesday 10:00am – 12 noon.

Term 1 & 2:
$150.00 (8 weeks).

Botanical drawings with Farimah Eshragi

This course will focus on the analysis of flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables. Students will learn the skills and techniques of drawing and painting complex shapes and details in the botanical variety.

Friday 1:30 – 3pm.

Term 2:

Art classes for children (NEW!) with Farimah Eshragi

A structured class, utilising a range of art mediums including watercolours, pastels, drawing and collage this is an excellent way for young budding artists to develop their techniques. Starting Term 2. Ages 7 years and up.

Adult Pottery Classes

Pottery class

Our experienced instructors, Margaret Boyle and Janet Duncan, will teach you the art of ceramics, covering both wheel and hand building work, decorative techniques and glazing. Beginner, Intermediate and experienced students welcome.

Children’s Pottery Classes

Childrens pottery class

Under the guidance of experienced tutors, these classes offer a fantastic creative introduction to the art of pottery, designed for children aged 5-15 years.

Weekday classes: 4:30pm – 6:00pm.
Saturday: 9:30am – 11.00am.

Term 2: $154.50 (11 weeks)

Kids Pottery Birthday Parties

Looking for something different for your next child's party? Try a Kids Pottery Party. Parties operate Saturday afternoons (on availability of tutor) at a cost of only $17.50 per child. Children are supervised for 1.5 hours by an experienced instructor, who assists them to create a special clay piece to keep. Suitable for children 5-12 years of age. Minimum number of 10 children required.

Want MORE pottery?

The pottery program is expanding with more classes at weekends for adults and children. If you are interested in learning pottery and have a preferred time, let us know. With a minimum of five participants and a tutor, a new class can be scheduled.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities

Members of local indigenous communities meet fortnightly to share ideas, stories and recipes while cooking and eating meals together. Sessions are free and children are welcome.

Monthly during school terms, starting 9 February, 12:30 - 3pm.

Venue Hire

The Ferntree Gully Community Arts Centre is located at the base of the Dandenong Ranges, nestled in a peaceful bushland setting. The centre is available for community groups to hire. It is fully air conditioned and provides meeting rooms, arts and craft facilities and a kitchen. There is ample off street parking. It can accommodate general meetings for up to 100 people and sit-down community group events for up to 70 people. Please contact the centre for community group room hire rates and availability.
