Knox Road Management Plan 2015

Road Management Plan

The Knox Road Management Plan (RMP) includes the following:

  • A summary report which outlines the methodology and approach used in developing Council’s road management practices.
  • A Public Road Register – which lists all roads within the municipality for which Council takes coordinating responsibility as a Road Authority.
  • Road and Footpath Hierarchies – which demonstrate how Council views its roads and paths within the municipality and the relative functional priority attributed to these assets.
  • A Road Maintenance Management Plan – which explains the methodology by which Council will undertake and record maintenance works on Council’s road reserve assets. This document identifies hazards, hazard inspection frequencies and service levels for each asset category.

In accordance with Section 54(5) of the Road Management Act 2004 (Act), Knox City Council conducted a review of its Road Management Plan in 2009, 2013 and again in 2017. The purpose of these reviews was to ensure that the standards and priorities in relation to the inspection, maintenance and repair of the roads, and the classes of road to which Council’s Road Management Plan applies are safe, efficient and appropriate for use by the community served by the Council.

As an outcome of the 2013 Road Management Plan review and in accordance with Section 54(6) of the Road Management Act 2004 (Act), Council has amended its Road Management Plan. The current Plan can be inspected at the Council’s Municipal Offices at the Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South 3152 or accessed via the links below.

2017 Review of Road Management Plan

In accordance with Section 54(5) of the Road Management Act 2004 (Act) and the Road Management (General) Regulations 2016 - Part 3 Division 1, Council has completed a review of its Road Management Plan in 2017.

The report summarising the findings and conclusions of this review can be found in the minutes of the Council meeting on 26 June 2017 (available on this website). Alternatively, copies of the report can be provided on request by contacting Council's Coordinator - Asset Strategy on 9298 8000.
