7. Climate Change Adaption & Mitigation (Greenhouse Action)

Approach 7.1 - Achieve community and council greenhouse gas reduction goals
Approach 7.2 - Offset greenhouse gas emissions
Approach 7.3 - Plan for adaptation to climate change
Approach 7.4 - Develop partnerships to address climate change mitigation and adaption
Approach 7.5 - Improve air quality
Goal: To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality and to be well prepared for climate change

The goal for climate change is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby improving air quality, and for Council to be well prepared for the changes in our climate. Council will achieve this by working with community to create a carbon neutral city powered by clean energy sources. The move to cleaner energy sources will not only reduce the city’s impact on climate change – it will also result in air that we can all breathe.

Through strategic planning and action, Council will lead residents in adapting to the impacts of climate change, keeping Knox a safe and healthy place to live and work.
