Energy Efficiency and Greenhouse Emissions  Printer Friendly

Australia is one of the highest producers of greenhouse gas emissions per capita in the world. As a country we produce greenhouse gases at a rate well above internationally agreed targets.

Our dependence on fossil fuels for energy and reliance on motor vehicles for transport are the main contributions to our high greenhouse gas emissions. Modification of current practices and developing more sustainable alternative energy and transport sources are therefore necessary in the interests of community health and the environment.
