| What's on in 2012? | | Knox Carols by Candlelight concert attracts over 15,000 people in Melbourne's largest celebration outside of the Myer Music Bowl. Activities commence from 4pm with free children's face painting and a free fairground courtesy of Ferntree Gully Holden.
The evening's entertainment begins at 7.15pm with the children’s show featuring the audience favourite, Dorothy the Dinosaur and friends.
The main program begins at 8pm. Continuing the tradition of high quality performers at Knox Carols by Candlelight, our featured performer this year is one of Australia’s most recognised and respected actors and singers, John Waters. John’s diverse background spans four decades, and includes entertaining children on Play School, his highly successful show Looking Through a Glass Onion and more recently a return to the small screen in the acclaimed series, Offspring.
Along with John, the main program will also feature talented performers Deborah Cotton, Imogen Spendlove and over 200 performers including the 100 strong combined Melbourne University Choir and Southern Voices. The country’s finest concert band, the Australian Army Band Melbourne will be conducted by Australian Army Band Director, Major Glenn Rogers.
Other major highlights include Santa’s arrival - a professionally scripted event featuring a touch of Santa magic, a beautiful Candle Lighting Ceremony - written especially for Knox and involving children from churches throughout the community and finally, a spectacular fireworks display.
The evening will be hosted by acclaimed performer and Knox favourite, Brian Nankervis. Residents of Knox, families and friends are warmly welcomed to Knox Carols by Candlelight 2012.
