Fees & Charges - Food Act 1984  Printer Friendly

The following Food Act Registration fees and charges are applicable from 1 January 2013 until 30 December 2013. No GST is applicable.

Please note that all Food Act Registrations are paid on an annual basis from 1 January to 31 December. Registration fees are applied on a quarterley pro-rata basis depending on when your application and payment are received. Please contact Health Services on 9298 8165 if you have any questions about fees.

Unless you are applying for a Temporary Food Registration all Public Health and Wellbeing and Food Act registrations are valid until 31 December regardless of when you apply during the year. A renewal notice is usually sent to you toward the end of the year and if you continue to operate during the following year the full 12 months registration fee will apply.

Class 2B   Supermarkets with 2 or less departments, Bakeries, Small Food Manufacturers, Restaurants, Take Away Food Premises, Caterers, Market Stalls (High Risk)   $466.70       
Class 2ES   Supermarkets with 3 or more departments that hold a non-standard Food Safety Program   $1516.90       
Class 2E   Food premises that holds a non-standard Food Safety Program and are subject to independent audit (except Supermarkets).   $466.70       
Class 2HB   Homes Business   $333.40       
Class 3   Accommodation Meals, Health Food Premises, Bar, Kiosks, Fruit and Vegetable Premises, Confectionary Packaging, Food Vehicles, Lunch Trucks, Pre-Packaged Food Premises (High Risk), Full Year Sporting Clubs, Market Stalls (Low Risk), Distributor, Importer, Winery, Large Warehouse   $260.50       
Class 3V   Lunch Trucks (multiple vehicles registered at the same address)   $97.40       
Class 3S   Large Supermarkets sell potentially hazardous pre-packed foods   $852.20       
Class 3 Club   Seasonal Sporting Club   $130.20       
Charity   Registered not-for-profit Organisations   $0       
             

Temporary Food Registration
A Temporary Food Registration is a trial registration that is valid for a short period of time, for example; if you wish to sell food at a market stall on a trial basis you can apply for a Temporary Food Registration. The fee for this Temporary Food Registration will be charged on a pro-rata basis and if you decide to continue with your registration on an annual basis the fee you have paid will be deducted from the annual registration fee (provided you apply for full registration in the same calendar year as your Temporary Food Registration was granted).
 
Other Fees & Charges
The following legislative fees and charges are applicable from 1 July 2012 until 30 June 2013. Includes GST.

Plan Inspection Fee - Food Act   $150.00    
Plan Approval Fee - Home Based Business   $75.00    

Late Fees
A late penalty of 25% of the annual registration fee applies to all Food renewals not paid by 31 December. Further late penalties apply if registration renewal fees are not paid by the deadlines given. This may also result in legal action.
