| The Knox Regional Sports Park is a new sports and recreation centre in Wantirna South, officially opened in 2012. The 27-hectare site adjacent to EastLink has become a new home for the State Basketball Centre and Knox regional soccer centre. Funding was committed from a partnership comprising the Australian and Victorian governments, Knox City Council and contributions from key stakeholders. Council provided the biggest single component of funding, with contributions also from Football Federation Victoria, Knox Basketball Incorporated and Basketball Victoria.

| Key features:
• An indoor sports stadium, with six courts, with a capacity for up to 3,200-seat show court;
• Two synthetic soccer pitches and associated soccer pavilion, with public toilets;
• Open grassed areas for informal recreation;
• Grassed field and operations area for the Victorian Association of Radio Model Soaring;
• Outdoor plaza and forecourt at the front of the basketball stadium;
• Car parking areas with associated landscaping;
• Groups of predominantly native and indigenous trees;
• Pathways connecting key elements of the reserve and to shared trails surrounding the reserve.

| Precinct development
All civil works, incorporating roads and car parking are now complete and fully operational.
Soccer facilities
A new soccer facility consists of synthetic grass surface and infills on a five-a-side eastern pitch, together with the fencing, sports floodlighting and rebound boards. Synthetic grass, with infills, forms the western side full-side pitch, including sports floodlighting and retractable netting for use in football training.

| Indoor sports stadium (State Basketball Centre)
The six-court indoor State Basketball Centre was completed and officially launched on 22 June 2012, serving local, regional and elite level players, while also accommodating netball.
