Knox Youth Services provides information, referral, support and programs for young people aged 10 - 25 who are living, working, recreating or studying in the City of Knox.

| Our purpose | | The purpose of Knox Youth Services is to:

 | Identify youth needs and issues and pursue effective and coordinated responses to them. | | Provide access to information, services and resources for young people and their parents. | | Assist young people in gaining the skills, confidence and resources to address their own needs and be active paricipants in their community.

| We also run a number of community development and group & peer educator programs.
We work closely with various community-based agencies and workers, providing information, support, training and resourcing. Links to schools and others who use our programs are strengthening. New links and roles are developing in Rowville.

| Consultancy | | Our expertise in service development, training, team building, program development and research are available on a fee-for-service basis to other organisations and areas. This is a growing area of work. It enables us to further fund and improve Youth Services in Knox.

| Policy and Advocacy | | From the above we develop advice for Council and other relevant agencies on youth issues. We assist young people in representing their opinions. This occurs through some of the above programs, Youth Issues Forum, Council Reports etc. We are represented on: the Regional Youth Council, Local Government Youth Workers Group, police youth worker liaison group, teenage pregnancy worker groups etc.

| Research | | We collect thorough data on the use and users of our services. Through support of research by other agencies and secondary analysis, we monitor youth needs and issues in Knox.

Knox Youth Services has recently developed a new brochure in regards to it's programs and services for young people; programs and services for families, parents and carers; and services for schools, agencies and others advocating for young people.
