| Ferntree Gully Village Place Program | | Ferntree Gully Village is recognised by Council as a location experiencing of some of the most significant change in a generation. Council’s Place Program team is currently active in Ferntree Gully Village, facilitating a Program that seeks to strengthen Ferntree Gully’s future by enabling greater self determination by the Ferntree Gully community. | |
| Ferntree Gully Village Structure Plan |
| |
|
Knox City Council has begun preparation of a Structure Plan to guide the future of Ferntree Gully Village.
The study area for the Structure Plan will be primarily focussed on land within Ferntree Gully Village. The Structure Plan will also investigate the centre’s interface with the surrounding residential land and its broader landscape and regional context.
This is an exciting opportunity to plan for the Village, responding to the issues and opportunities of the local area, to build on local knowledge and experience, and to provide certainty for Council, community and stakeholders.
The plan will show the things about the Village that we want to keep as they are, and the things we would like to change for the better.
The plan will cover the role of the centre, land use and activities, buildings, access and parking, and public spaces. |
Please fill out by Friday 14 June 2013. |

| What's Been Happening? | | In late May, the Council held 2 Workshops aimed at setting an agenda for the Structure Plan. The workshops were well attended with over 50 people engaged in the conversation. The questionnaire responses along with the feedback gained from the workshops are being analysed and we are completing a Background Study. | |
| Come to a Second Community Workshop | | The second set of workshops will provide the opportunity to advance the discussions we started at the workshops in May. We will share the analysis work and what this might mean for Ferntree Gully Village. We will lead a discussion on what we understand are the key aspirations for Ferntree Gully Village and what needs to be done to help get there.
This is your chance to influence these aspirations for the future of Ferntree Gully Village and how this might be achieved.
Please come to one of the two following workshops: | |
 | Saturday 22 June 2013 10.00am- 12.30pm at Wattle Elderly Citizens Club, 160 Underwood Road, Ferntree Gully; or | | Wednesday 26 June 2013 from 6.30pm - 9.00pm at Ferntree Gully Arts Centre, 1010 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully. |

| Ferntree Gully Village Streetscape Master Plan | | The Streetscape Master Plan responded to key objectives identified by a Community Reference Group, which included enhancing the atmosphere and identity of the Village and access improvements. A total of $800,000 was allocated for capital works for the construction of part of the streetscape in Station Street, north of The Avenue. This work was completed in November 2012
Works included: | |
 | installation of a flashing lights raised pedestrian crossing in Station Street. | | footpath widening. | | new street furniture and street tree planting. | | improvements to the bus stop. | | relocation of on-street taxi bays to the station area. |
|
|
| Establish better use of Vic Track car parks | | Ferntree Gully Village increasingly plays an important role as a regional public transport hub. The impacts on the Village of growing public transport patronage however is a key concern for the Reference Group. The Place Program team and the Reference Group, have been advocating the need for a master plan for the use of VicTrack land. | |
