The Knox Community Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2007-09 presents Knox City Council’s Municipal Public Health Plan in accordance with the Victorian Health Act 1958.
The Strategy is based upon a population approach to health and wellbeing, which focuses on improving the health status of the whole community. This approach seeks to reduce inequities and strengthen social cohesion and community engagement.
The Strategy presents:
| | | |
 | The community health and wellbeing vision; | | A definition of the nine key categories or pillars affecting community health and wellbeing in Knox; | | A comprehensive community health and wellbeing profile of Knox (statistical data); | | Priority focus areas for action; | | Desirable community outcomes; and | | Action plans which outline Council’s activities to address community health and wellbeing weaknesses in Knox and enhance its strengths. |
|
|
| The Knox Community Health and Wellbeing Reference Group has guided the development of the Strategy to ensure that it is relevant to the needs of the community. The Reference Group meets bi-monthly and consists of Council staff, Councillors and representatives from community organisations, Knox Police and the Victorian Department of Human Services. | |
| The development of a new four-year Strategy, in accordance with the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, will commence in 2009. | |
