Elections for the Knox City Council were held on Saturday, 27 October 2012. The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) conducted the elections on behalf of Knox City Council. For more detailed information on election results please visit the VEC website.

| Election Results 2012 | | The following candidates have been declared elected and sworn in at the Statutory Meeting of Council held on 7 November 2012.

| Failure to Vote | | People were required to vote at Council elections held for the municipality in which they have their principal place of residence. Failure to vote without a valid reason will attract a penalty.
Please note - If you are enrolled to vote as an absentee ratepayer, voting in the municipality where you do not live is not compulsory. If you are aged over 70 voting is not compulsory.
The Victorian Electoral Commission will be managing Failure to Vote follow up on Council's behalf. The VEC website has more detailed information about what to do if you failed to vote in the 2012 Council elections. A link to their website can be found below.

| Campaign Donation Returns | | Within 40 days after election day, candidates in an election must give to the Chief Executive Officer an Election Campagin Donation Return ('Return'). Details of the Returns received must then be reported to the Minister for Local Government and a summary of the Returns made available on Council's website. The summary must contain the name of each candidate who has lodged a return, details of any gifts disclosed including the name of the person who made the gift, and the total value of any gift received from that person. The summary must remain on Council's website until the entitlement date for the next general election. Further, the Chief Executive Officer is required to make available a copy of the Return for inspection at Council's offices for a period of 4 years from the date it is given.
