What is Metro Access?

A community strengthening initiative being undertaken by local governments in their municipalities; and a whole-of-community and whole-of-life approach to the inclusion of people with a disability and their carers in community life.

Who will contribute to MetroAccess?

MetroAccess will facilitate a range of projects that involve community members, people with a disability, their family and friends, carers, community organisations, service providers and Council.

What are the aims of MetroAccess?

MetroAccess aims to identify and bring together the strengths, resources and creativity of local people, organisations and Council to enhance community participation opportunities for people with a disability and their carers.

How will the MetroAccess worker reach these aims?

  • By raising community awareness about the needs and aspirations of people with a disability;
  • By bringing together a diverse range of people;
  • By developing partnerships and projects which respond to the needs and priorities of the Knox community;
  • By creating more opportunities for people with a disability to participate in all aspects of community life; and
  • By mobilising the strengths and assets in people, the community and within Council.
