Clean Up Australia Day

The community contribution and commitment to local conservation has always been strong in the Knox area and Clean Up Australia Day is one of the many ways you can get involved in your local environment and make a difference.

How to get involved on Sunday 1 March 2020

Create or find a Clean Up site

Find an area such as a park, reserve or waterway that needs cleaning up or join an existing Clean Up Site near you. You can register as an individual, community group, business or school. All you have to do is go through the registration process and Clean Up Australia will send you a free Clean Up Kit including bags, gloves, information and promotional materials. Business registrations will incur a $150 fee.

Tell your friends

Whether you created a new Clean Up Site or joined an existing one, Clean Up Australia offer you a set of tools to promote it to your friends and family. By encouraging your friends and family to join your Clean Up Site you will make a bigger difference on the environment. You are able to donate to your Site to help fund resources provided to communities for free.

Turn up on the day

Last but not least, conduct your Clean Up. Make sure as a Site Supervisor you have arranged rubbish pickup with Knox City Council or a waste management service and ensure your volunteers have bags and gloves. As a volunteer ensure you sun protection and proper footwear.

Please Note: Council does not coordinate clean up sites so you must register at the Clean Up Australia website to get involved.

For more information, please call Clean Up Australia on 1800 282 329.
