Stringybark Festival

The Stringy Bark Festival at the Rowville Community Centre in October saw more than 12,000 people enjoy a one day event featuring community activities, nature play, active attractions, creative arts, sustainability presentations, delicious food and live dance and music performances. Entry to the event was free this year, with a wider range of free family activities enabling a fun day for all to enjoy.

Interactive performances from feature acts Nicky Bomba with members of Melbourne Ska Orchestra and The Mighty Buzzniks, combined forces with local musicians, singers and school bands in collaborative performances as part of the Creative Victoria funded program ‘Knox: Amplified’.

There were plenty of nature-based activities including animal encounters with a visit from a range of farm animals and interaction with cuddly and the creepy critters of all sorts, and engaging presentations by Wild Action.

We welcomed more than 40 community groups into the program who offered some amazing skills as community stallholders, site activations, performances, workshops and cooking presentations. The event also enjoyed a strong partnership with Stud Park Shopping Centre as they lead a creative, nature based program in the month leading up to Stringybark Festival, which also engaging with six local schools and local environmental groups.
