Seedy Ladies

Seedy Ladies helping Knox grow!

A volunteer group at Knox Environment Society in Ferntree Gully called the Seedy Ladies are helping to grow and preserve a large variety of plant species in Knox.

Passionate gardeners, the group of ladies clean, sort and organise the local indigenous seeds that are collected by the Knox Environment Society ‘HAGS - Hunters And Gatherers’.

All volunteers, this group of remarkable women are passionate about their vision; to preserve native threatened seed species for generations to come.

Without this important work the Knox Environment Society would not be able to grow the large variety of indigenous plants available at the plant nursery. Organising the seeds also means that locally threatened species seeds can be stored safely, to ensure the survival of the species if anything happened to the population in the wild.

Meet the Seedy Ladies on our Facebook page.
