Knox Council is leading the charge to a more sustainable future for local drivers, installing two electric vehicle charging stations at the Civic Centre in Wantirna South.

The electric charge points will be available for members of the public to use at no cost, and will also be used to power Council’s three new electric fleet vehicles. Quotes attributable to the Mayor, Cr Jake Keogh:

  • As outlined in the Knox Community and Council Plan 2018-2022, we are committed to reducing greenhouse emissions and this is just one initiative towards that goal.
  • There is, rightly, an expectation in the community that government should lead the way in the area of sustainability and improved environmental outcomes.
  • One of the ways we can do that is by providing services and infrastructure that open up more choices for residents who are looking for cleaner and more environmentally sustainable options, including the use of electric vehicles.
