Winners of the Knox Sport and Leisure Awards 2019

Heroes of sport in Knox

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners in the annual Knox Sport and Leisure Awards, rewarding the dedicated and hardworking volunteers of clubs throughout Knox.

The awards also recognise clubs that provide positive programs and opportunities for the community. This year’s awards received a record 76 nominations, with the ceremony hosting more than 220 people from sport and leisure clubs across Knox.

Hosted at the Civic Centre last month, the awards were proudly supported by Nitto Australia, who launched ‘Armbands for Causes’ at the event. This program offers discounts to sporting clubs of up to 40% off Nitto’s general purpose tape which can be used for commemorative and charity matches. Find out more by visiting

Olympic medalist Brooke Hanson OAM was a highlight of the ceremony, sharing two of her Olympic medals and her inspiring words on positivity and belief with the crowd. Brooke attended the event thanks to Belgravia Leisure, who currently manage and operate Knox Leisureworks on behalf of Council, as she is an ambassador for the Belgravia Foundation. Brownlow medalist Tom Mitchell from Hawthorn Football Club and Ezi Magbegor from the Deakin Melbourne Boomers (pictured) also spoke about their sporting journeys, acknowledging all the volunteers who have helped them along the way.

Council congratulates all clubs and individuals that were nominated, and is proud to announce the winners of this year’s Awards:

  • Club of the Year – Bayswater Junior Football Club (pictured)
