Does your community group or club offer services or activities that involve Knox residents?

If you answered yes to the questions above, we invite you to come along to these FREE workshops.

The Community Skills workshops are presented to benefit volunteer and not-for-profit community groups who provide valuable services or programs in Knox.

The workshops provide opportunities to learn new skills, build upon and further develop the skills within groups and clubs. They are also an opportunity to meet and network with other community groups throughout Knox. There is a wide range of workshops available and all eligible groups and volunteers are encouraged to participate.

Training for New and Aspiring Treasurers

The role of Treasurer in a voluntary organisation can be a rewarding one. It need not be daunting, but it does require an appreciation of the issues that make the finances of non-profit organisations different from businesses. This workshop has plenty of helpful examples to enable you to understand the accounting mechanisms and requirements involved in the role of a Treasurer of a community group.

  • Manage and improve your organisation’s accounting records and systems
  • Processes to help you do your job
  • Develop your budget for the new financial year
  • Understand cash flow and how to monitor it effectively
  • Calculate if the organisation is solvent
  • Help the committee understand and interpret the financial reports
  • Manage petty cash


  • When: Monday 28 November 2016, 6:30pm-9:30pm
  • Where: Knox Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South.
