Community Group Training Program

What is the Community Group Training Program?

The Community Group Training Program is a series of workshops presented over the year that are designed to benefit volunteer and not-for-profit community groups and clubs who provide services or programs in Knox.

If you are a volunteer or work for a not-for-profit community group such as a local club or committee this program will be suitable for you.

The workshops provide opportunities to learn new skills, build upon and further develop the skills of members within groups, and to meet and network with other community groups throughout Knox. There is a wide range of workshops available and all eligible groups and volunteers are encouraged to participate.

All workshops are held at the Knox Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South

For further information contact the Community Development Officer, Community Strengthening Team at commskills@knox.vic.gov.au or on 9298 8000.

Know your role

Know your role

For many organisations the role of the committee members is implicitly understood rather than being clearly documented and explained. For others the roles have morphed over the years and are no longer defined. We will cover what positions must legally exist on a committee and provide a clear understanding of what each position is responsible for. Easy to follow templates for position descriptions will also be provided.

Recruiting for your committee

Recruiting Committee

Even in the case of a well-run, effective and stable committee, members will leave from time to time. Locking the AGM doors until you fill the positions does not necessarily ensure the committee will reflect the needs and interests of the group's members or offer skills and expertise that will allow them to navigate the changing terrain.
Our facilitator will teach you how to identify the skills your committee has, what you may need and how to actively recruit people to your committee who can help you fill the gaps.
