Community and Public Art

The Community and Public Arts Officer works with local people to empower, inspire and educate. Programs such as the Immerse exhibition program, the Wall to Wall Mentoring Program, the Public Art Program, and community cultural development initiatives like the Knox Craft Collective the Knox Artist Register, Artslink and community art projects that educate and communicate contemporary social issues. The Community and Public Arts Officer also offers individual and group assistance in relation to grant writing, arts marketing and strategic planning.

Volunteering Opportunity - Knox Civic Art Collection Audit Assistant

Bring your organisational skills and passion for art collection management and conservation to audit and update the Knox Civic Art Collection. Are you a student looking to gain professional work experience as a stepping stone to a career in art collection management and conservation? This could be the volunteering role you have been looking for!

Working with an experienced and innovative Community and Public Arts Officer you will audit the entire Civic Art Collection. Travelling to various sites across Knox Council, you will practice every aspect of collection management while contributing to best practice standards and enabling the community greater access to the Civic Art Collection.
This rare opportunity exists for a student to gain practical best practice experience for your collection management and conservation career. Knox Council will happily provide a reference following your volunteering period.

Where: Knox City Council, 511 Burwood Hwy Wantirna South, and other Council owned satellite sites.
How often: 1 day per week for a 3 month period
