Eat Smart in Knox Food Safety Awards

Eat Smart Award Recipient

Knox City Council's Health Services department is running Eat Smart, a Food Safety program in partnership with Healthy Together Knox. The program consists of a revamped food safety excellence award program, previously known as Going for Gold, and a new component which seeks to promote businesses that offer healthy food choices within Knox.

The Eat Smart Program incorporates both Class Two and Class Three premises. The new system will award all parties that meet the food safety criteria with a certificate of recognition.

Awards will be issued, within a month of completed compliance inspections, for food proprietors to display. Further to this, the highest achieving food premises each year in the categories detailed below will be recognised at an award presentation attended by the Mayor.

Eat Smart Food Safety awards will be issued for the following Food categories:

  • Bakery
  • Cafe/Kiosk
  • Cafe/Restaurant
  • Delicatessen
  • School Canteen
  • Take Away Premises
  • Workplace Canteen
