Property Maintenance

Knox City Council provides an integrated range of home support services for people who are frail, older and/or have a disability and their carers.

Council's Property Maintenance service aims to provide basic, practical assistance to maintain a safe and secure home environment that assists Knox residents to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, and to live as independently as possible.

It is a 'handyman' service which can assist with minor tasks to assist a client's mobility and safety in the home. Please note that we cannot assist with trade works such as electrical or plumbing.

Our Property Maintenance services include:

  • Installation of rails and ramps to assist with access and mobility (Occupational Therapist referral required)
  • Raising or lowering of chairs and other furniture
  • Shower and bath fittings, such as hand showers
  • Window and door locks
  • Cleaning gutters (single story - subject to working at height restrictions)
  • Replacing tap washers
  • Replacing light globes and smoke detector batteries
  • Various other tasks related to safety in the home

Please note that the service does not include any gardening, lawn mowing or window cleaning.

Those who may be eligible:
