Underground

Underground is the story of an iconic Australian during one of history’s darkest periods. However, Nancy Wake doesn’t want another layer of gold paint added to the legend of The White Mouse. What happened in France in 1944 changed her forever, but this time, no one is messing with her story.

She evaded capture by the Gestapo, and was one of only thirteen female special agents to survive the war. Nancy’s story unfolds with humour and pathos, together with a cast of comrades from the forests of France. Among them a mysterious German spy and cabaret singer, who performs Marlene Dietrich’s most beloved songs.

This fast-paced play is of interest to old and young, history buffs, Francophiles, Germans and anyone who appreciates strong Australian stories.

Mission Songs Project

Searching for the family songs that were sung around the kitchen table, Jessie Lloyd explores the day to day life on the missions, settlements and reserves through music. From cultural identity to love and loss, these rare songs consist of almost forgotten stories that can now shed light into the history of our Indigenous elders, families and communities.

Mission Songs Project faithfully explores the musical journey of Indigenous Australian music as the Mission Songs Quartet connects the traditional with contemporary, revealing the continuation of cultural practice and song traditions into the 21st Century.

Image of FoRT by Asking from Trouble

FoRT

Asking for Trouble presents FoRT a circus/physical theatre production, which delves into the art of play and the creation of worlds from everyday objects.

Two strange characters appear hunting for whispers of adventure. In a series of vignettes a couch, table, cushions, sheets and broomsticks transform into rockets, trampolines, cliffs and tents places to explore. Images appear and disappear.

FoRT is full of ridiculous clowning, spectacular acrobatics, poetic visual imagery and celebrates the kind of creative genius that has been known to turn lounge rooms into volcanoes, trees into castles and cardboard boxes into racing cars.
