Knox City Council provides an integrated range of home support services for people who are frail, older and/or have a disability and their carers. As part of these services, people who are assessed as being nutritionally 'at risk' are able to access Knox City Council's Meals on Wheels service.
Meals on Wheels provides people with a range of nutritionally balanced meals necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Meals are prepared and delivered to the persons home chilled, to be heated in either a conventional or microwave oven. Heating instructions are supplied for the heating of meals. Frozen dinners can be provided for later consumption.
Special requirements such as meals for diabetics and vitamised meals are available upon request. Those people with complex needs can request heated meals.
Prior to services being provided, each person is assessed in their home for services according to individual needs. Access to services is subject to eligibility, and cost of service is dependent upon income.
Our Meals on Wheels service is provided by volunteers who deliver the meals to the residents home.
Additional volunteers are required for our meals deliveries. If you would like to assist and have some time available between 10.00am and 1.30pm, please contact the Meals on Wheels office on 9729 6624 to learn how you could assist this valuable community service.
