Knox Schools Expo

The Knox Schools Expo is an annual information night, that is usually held in March each year, for parents, guardians and carers of Years 5 & 6 students who are transitioning to Secondary School in the near future.

The 2016 Knox Schools Expo was held on Thursday 17 March at Knox City Council Civic Centre.

The evening allowed attendees to have conversations with representatives from Knox Secondary Schools and Community Organisations, before a Q and A panel session that provided the audience with an opportunity to explore considerations when selecting a secondary school, after which there was further opportunity to visit the stalls.

We received feedback on the night but if you missed this opportunity, but would like to provide feedback don't hesitate to email Feedback 2016 Knox Schools Expo

Transitioning from Primary to Secondary School

What to Expect at the Knox Schools Expo

Knox Schools Expo

Each secondary school in Knox is invited to attend and promote their school at the Knox Schools Expo.

The evening provides parents, families and young people with an opportunity to explore and discuss key factors to consider when choosing a secondary school for the future, including the young person's social and emotional wellbeing which is an essential consideration at the time of transition.

The evening will allow attendees to have extended conversation time with representatives from Knox Secondary Schools, and a Q&A session to a panel of youth and education representatives, who will provide the audience with an opportunity to explore/discuss critical factors when selecting a secondary school.

Rod Dungan from Thriving Youth Australia has previously been a guest speaker and has provided presentation notes on 'Choosing a School'. These notes are available via the downloadable links at the bottom of this page.

The Transition to High School

Transitions are always difficult for individuals with an ASD, and you will need to once again research the right schooling option for your child, investigate the options and work with the school to set up a program for the individual with an ASD.
