Arterial Roads

VicRoads are responsible for the general operation and maintenance of arterial roads throughout the City of Knox, including:

  • Bayswater Road
  • Boronia Road
  • Brenock Park Drive
  • Burwood Highway
  • Dorset Road
  • Ferntree Gully Road
  • Forest Road (Boronia Road to Mountain Highway)
  • Glenfern Road (Brenock Park Drive to Napoleon Road)
  • High Street Road
  • Kelletts Road
  • Lysterfield Road
  • Mountain Highway
  • Napoleon Road (Kelletts Road to Lysterfield Road)
  • Scoresby Road
  • Stud Road
  • Wantirna Road
  • Wellington Road

All general enquiries regarding the operation and traffic flows on these arterial roads should be directed to VicRoads on 13 11 70.

VicRoads' maintenance responsibilities on the arterial roads listed above include:

  • Maintenance of centre medians
  • Traffic signal problems/repairs
  • Asphalt, line marking, drainage
  • Removal of rubbish and deceased animals

Council's maintenance responsibilities on these arterial roads are limited to:

  • Service road maintenance
  • Footpath repairs
  • Maintenance of roadside trees (urban arterial roads only)
  • Roadside mowing (urban arterial roads only)

Local and Non-Arterial Roads

Knox City Council is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all public non-arterial roads including:

  • Road surface repairs
  • Footpaths
  • Tree maintenance
  • Roadside mowing
  • Drainage
  • Removal of rubbish and deceased animals
  • New, damaged and missing street signs
