Knox Sport and Leisure Awards 2017

On Wednesday 21 June, Council hosted the 2017 Knox Sport and Leisure Awards, an awards evening dedicated to recognising and rewarding the hard working volunteers and achievements within local sporting clubs. The Awards evening also aimed to create a more sustainable sporting landscape through the retention of current volunteers and attracting new volunteers.

Over 120 people representing a variety of sport and leisure groups attended the evening, with special guest speaker and dual world record holder Tammy van Wisse inspiring the crowd with her tails of courage, determination and resilience. Tammy is a marathon swimming champion who has set six World Records; swum the English Channel twice (the success rate is only seven percent); is the only person to have swum Bass Strait; and spent three and a half months submerged in the mighty Murray River - just to mention a few of her milestones.

In all, over sixty individuals and clubs were recognised for their outstanding efforts, with seventeen winners throughout the various categories which are listed below.

Knox City Council would like to congratulate all winners and nominees for their outstanding efforts to the local sporting community, and say thank you to the award sponsors.
