Christmas cheer to end the year

Hampers packed by St Vincent de Paul

Local families doing it tough received Christmas hampers this week from St Vincent De Paul’s Ferntree Gully branch with the assistance of a $2,000 grant from Council.

Ferntree Gully branch treasurer, Connie Balakrishnan, said some 65 hampers containing Christmas staples such as pudding, ham, shortbread and custard were delivered by volunteers to grateful recipients over the weekend.
“Many of our clients are from big families and have young kids. These hampers really help to make their Christmas that little bit more special,” Ms Balakrishnan.

“We truly enjoy making arrangements to drop in to our clients to personally greet them. Families are always appreciative and thankful for the hampers.”

The hampers contain a variety of Christmas products and a $100 Woolworths card. Children also received a gift card thanks to the additional support of St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School and St Joseph’s College in Ferntree Gully.

Council’s Community Development Fund grants aim to develop, enhance and support the involvement of community groups in activities and projects which respond to identified needs in the Knox community.
