Food Trails to connect community and businesses

Ferntree Gully Food Trail

To help support local business the Ferntree Gully Traders Association has come up with fun way to encourage the community to get back out to the foothills and enjoy what their local traders have to offer.

Some 19 businesses, ranging from cafes, bars, restaurants, takeaway stores, and supermarkets will participate in the Ferntree Gully Food Trails event which will commence on Friday 26 March until Sunday 18 April, 2021.

The event provides an incentive for people to visit participating traders where they can collect stamps to go in to the draw to win a $50 voucher from Flame Trees Burger Bar or 1 of 3 $100 Bunnings vouchers, thanks to the Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully.

“The Food Trail around the village gives everyone an opportunity to extend their shopping habits, try out a new taste, a different takeaway, coffee spot or bar,” says Kirsten Rapolt, Food Trails project manager.

“It provides an alternative way to connect the community through a love of good food and good times.

Supported by Council’s Business Support Grants, the event aims to promote community connectedness, increase foot traffic, and support local businesses.

“We hope that this event will support business renewal and see increased foot traffic to the village post COVID-19.

“We’d like it to increase connection between community and traders, and encourage potential customers to visit venues they may not have previously known about or even considered,” says Kirsten.
