Community Access and Equity Implementation Plan

Knox City Council recognises that it has an important role in ensuring that all people are supported to fully participate in the community, that their human rights are protected and promoted and that they have equitable and dignified access to information, goods, services and life opportunities.

The Knox Community Access and Equity Implementation Plan 2017-2022 (The Plan) integrates previous Strategic Council Plans, including the Access and Inclusion Plan for People with Disabilities 2016, the Multicultural Strategic Plan 2012-17, the Prevention of Violence Against Women Action Plan and other Council programs and projects including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander activities and engagement working to address access and equity. The Plan also addresses Council’s responsibility under the State Disability Act (2006), in responding to and implementing actions that reduce barriers and promote inclusion for people with disabilities, their families and carers.

The Plan aligns and responds to the vision, goals and strategies of the Community and Council Plan 2017-21 and is one of its Implementation Plans. The Plan guides Council action and outlines Council’s commitment and vision for addressing access and equity issues in Knox as well as promoting diversity, access and inclusion.
