Built form guidelines for The Basin and Alchester Village neighbourhood activity centres have been prepared by Council and incorporated into the Knox Planning Scheme. The changes were introduced through Amendment C137 to the Knox Planning Scheme, which was approved by the Minister for Planning on 17 November 2016.
The built form guidelines draw on consultation with the local community, as well as analysis of the built form and planning policy framework for the centres. They will help guide appropriate development in these small, yet important centres.
A new Design and Development Overlay – Schedule 11 (Clause 43.02 ‘DDO11’ to the Knox Planning Scheme) will guide new development in the centres including building heights and setbacks, building colours and materials. These changes will replace interim height controls that currently apply to the centres. Please see the link below to the Knox Planning Scheme for full details of the planning controls.
