Cultural Diversity Week 2021

Cultural Diversity Week

21 - 28 March 2021

Knox has an incredibly diverse population. Collectively we represent over 130 different countries. 30.1% of Knox residents were born overseas, with the United Kingdom the leading country of birth followed by China, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Germany and Italy. Diversity is our strength and is to be celebrated.

Cultural Diversity Week is Victoria’s largest multicultural celebration. Proudly presented by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, with support from the Victorian Government, Cultural Diversity Week is held annually in March to coincide with the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Harmony Day. The week features an exciting program of festivals and events across metropolitan and regional areas and all Victorians are invited to come together to embrace and celebrate our cultural diversity.

Campfire Conversations

Campfire Conversations

Knox City Council, in partnership with the Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne) and Welcoming Cities, is excited to launch ‘Campfire Conversations’. Watch as we hear the fascinating stories of migrants from the Zomi and Iranian communities. We also hear a First Nations perspective on culture from the local Aboriginal community.

Watch the video below to take your place around a virtual campfire for storytelling and entertainment as people from these communities share stories about themselves and their culture.
