Knox Regional Sports Park Masterplan

A bold and ambitious vision of the future of the Knox Regional Sports Park (KRSP) was endorsed by Council in August 2018.

As the Knox community grows, the demand for high-quality sporting facilities is exceeding supply.

The final KRSP Masterplan is Council's response to this growing demand, offering a state of the art facility that will enhance sporting opportunities and support the community to stay active and healthy.

Masterplan features

The Masterplan includes:

  • Ten (10 additional domestic basketball courts;
  • A new gymnastics facility suitable for regional level competition;
  • A Centre of Excellence facility and high-performance training centre;
  • An 8,000 seat capacity sports/entertainment area with overflow parking for 2,500 vehicles within the adjacent Cathies Lane Landfill site;
  • Provide for the conversion of the existing 5-a-side soccer pitches to one (1) full size field, six (6) new 5-1-side pitches and extension to the existing pavilion; and
  • At grade car parking facilities and intersection upgrade works to facilitate parking demands and traffic flows.

Council's decision to endorse the Masterplan follows extensive community consultation, including an online survey that received over 1,500 responses.

The Masterplan builds on the Stage One of the 2009 plan that was completed in 2012.

In keeping with Stage One plans, the Masterplan supports the relocation of the Victorian Association of Radio Model Soaring (VARMS) to an alternative location at the conclusion of their current lease in 2022. Council is actively seeking to identify an alternative location.
