On-demand bus

Boronia on-demand bus service

The Boronia On Demand bus service is a 12 month trial providing flexible, accessible and safe transport for Boronia seniors to and from their homes to selected activity areas.

Who is eligible for the service?

The service is available to Boronia and The Basin residents, aged 65 years and over (or 50 years and over for Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders) who are in need of transport assistance.

Official carers, if accompanying an eligible client, are also eligible.

When is the bus available?

The trial will operate on Wednesdays only, between the hours of 9am and 4pm.

There will be four runs of the same route through the day.

Runs will commence at the following times:

  • 9am
  • 11am
  • 1pm
  • 3pm

Drop off and pick up hubs will be the Boronia Rail/Bus interchange, Knox Private Hospital, Knox Westfield Shopping Centre and The Angliss Hospital.

How much does it cost?

The cost is $3 each time you board. This means a return trip will cost $6.

You need to purchase a trip pass for $30, which includes 10 trips (or five return trips). Your valid trip pass must be shown to the driver at the commencement of each trip.

How do I access the bus service?

To use the On Demand bus, you will need to register. Call Knox Council on 9298 8000 and ask for the On Demand bus trial. Registration will involve answering some questions over the phone.

Once registered, simply call and book a pickup at least an hour before bus departure. The bus will drive a set route to each of the four hubs, divert from the route to pick you up from your residence, resume the route and drop you at the hub of your choice. To return home you meet the bus at the drop off point for the next scheduled route time.
