This year’s theme is Time for Nature – a timely reminder that we need to do our part to take care of our environment. And whilst we can't do our usual community planting activity this year due to the COVID-19 crisis, we encourage you to make a small difference right in your own backyard.
Plant a native or indigenous tree or shrub in your garden. Adding natives into our environment in this small way can make a difference to our world. If looking to purchase affordable indigenous plants please consider visiting the Knox Environment Society's Indigenous Nursery, where their knowledgeable volunteers can help with plant selection and garden ideas. Composting in your garden is another way to enrich your garden's soil, create a home for worms and reduce the amount of food waste going into landfill.
The other thing to do is to take time out to explore our amazing bushland reserves throughout Knox. Take a walk or bike ride through your local reserve and experience the diversity of plants and animals living so close.
