Governance training for community groups

This session will help community groups understand the importance of having structures in place that lead to a positive committee member experience, proper management of conflicts of interest and risk, understanding and planning of financial controls and an organisation that thrives even through adversity.

Good governance is one of the key cornerstones of successful and thriving community organisations. 

Having good governance practices in place for your organisation or club will help ensure that you have robust policies, procedures and processes in place to help deal with any eventualities that arise. This may sound simple enough, yet often volunteers must wade through a complex legal and regulatory environment to ensure successful and sustainable operations.

In this workshop you will:

  • Understand if good governance is in place
  • Understand the Committee’s role in planning
  • Learn how to oversee and monitor your organisation’s finances
  • Manage organisational risk
  • Identify the legal structure and the compliance implications
  • Understand the roles, responsibilities and legal duties of the committee
