Dementia friendly Knox

There are 2,626 people living with dementia in Knox, and it is estimated that over 12,700 will be by 2050.

To better support our community, Knox is partnering with Dementia Australia to implement the Dementia Friendly Communities Program and take action to create change.

The program aims to build awareness, understanding and acceptance of dementia within the community, so that people living with dementia can participate and remain active in our community.

As part of the first step of the program, we are establishing a Council-first Knox Dementia Advisory Group and are currently seeking members to join.

The group aims to be led by passionate people with lived experience and/or industry knowledge, to ensure our community is represented at the highest level possible.

We are looking for:

  • People living with dementia

  • Carers, family or friends of someone living (or lived) with dementia

  • Aged and health service professionals

  • Seniors’ group members

  • Neighbourhood House members

  • Students studying within the industry

If this opportunity interests you or someone you know, we’d love to hear from you. Please express your interest here by Wednesday 15 June or visit our webpage for more information.

For any questions, please contact Kylie Johnson, Age Friendly Communities Project Officer on kylie.johnson@knox.vic.gov.au or 9298 8827.

We look forward to working together in driving impactful work.
