- Honour locals that make a difference
Help us acknowledge amazing, everyday people who give back in our community. Nominations for the Knox Australia Day Awards close 2 December 2022.
Our Awards is a great opportunity to recognise those who reach out to help others, volunteer in the community, or work to preserve the environment.
Anthony Bigelow, our 2022 Sustainability Leadership recipient, was honoured for his outstanding commitment and service to Dandenong Creek.
He has served as both vice president and president of First Friends of Dandenong Creek for the last six years.
Significant sustainability projects he has championed include monitoring of creek water quality, and creating a short documentary about the importance of eels in the creek.
Anthony shared some inspiring words while accepting the award.
“Do the most worthwhile thing you can do with the time that you’ve got.” said Anthony.
If you know someone that deserves to be recognised, nominate them for this special honour.
Nominations are open for 6 Award categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Local Hero
- Sustainability Leadership
- Volunteer of the Year
Make a nomination by completing the online form by 2 December 2022.
Further information about the Awards, including eligibility and past recipients, is available on our Australia Day Awards webpage.
