- Register now for kindergarten next year
Registrations have now opened for 3 and 4 year old Council-run kindergartens for 2023. Register your child before 30 June to be included in our first round of offers.
We have 30 kindergartens across the municipality, each running a quality kindergarten program with qualified teachers. To find your closest kindergarten click here.
Our kindergartens run a funded kindergarten program, which means that the Victorian Government makes a contribution, which reduces parent fees.
Funded kindergarten at our services includes:
- 5 hours a week for 3-year-olds (must be 3 by 30 April 2023)
- 15 hours a week for 4-year-olds (must be 4 by 30 April 2023)
Families can also access funded kindergarten at independently run kindergarten services across Knox and long daycares.
The kindergarten years are important for every child. Research shows that a child who attends two years of a quality kindergarten program will on average have better cognitive and social skills when they start school.
Kindergarten can also help children develop confidence, language skills and independence.
Raja’s son started 4-year-old kindergarten this year. He said his son is enjoying kindergarten and that the teachers provide very good support. “The teachers make sure children enjoy kindergarten along with learning school readiness skills,” he said. “Every book they read or activity they do is loved by my son.”
