- Public Holiday Opening Hours
There will be changes to some services on public holidays Thursday 22 and Friday 23 September 2022.
Bins will be collected over the long weekend
Your household bins will be collected as normal over the public holidays on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 September 2022.
To confirm your collection days or check what you can put in your bins, visit the household bin, recycling bin and green waste pages.
Customer Service
The customer service counter and phone line will be closed on the public holidays.
Calls to 9298 8000 will be automatically transferred to our emergency after hours service.
You can still access many of our services online, including:
- make payments for rates, permits, fines and invoices
- book a hard waste collection
- report a missed bin collection
- report a damaged bin
- report a stolen or missing bin

Knox Transfer Station and Recycling Facility
The Knox Transfer Station and Recycling Facility will be open.

Community Centres
The following centres will be closed:
Leisure Centres

- Knox Leisureworks – operating on public holiday hours. For opening hours visit the Knox Leisureworks website
- Knox Park Athletics Centre – open
- Knox Skate and BMX Park – open
- Waterford Valley Golf Course – operating on public holiday hours. For opening hours visit the golf course website.
- Carrington Park Leisure Centre – closed
- Knox Regional Netball Centre – closed
Early Years services
Our kindergarten and childcare services will be closed. Playgroups operating out of Council’s early years centres will not operate.
Maternal and Child Health services
Our maternal child health services will be closed.
If you need immediate support, information or advice from a qualified maternal and child health nurse, you can contact the 24-hour Maternal and Child Health hotline on 13 22 29. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
