Wantirna Health Precinct West

The Victoria Government is inviting feedback on proposed planning controls for land at Boronia Road Wantirna, to support the development of Wantirna Health Precinct West. Have your say by 3 April 2023.

Wantirna Health Precinct is a major State Government project that aims to establish a new integrated health precinct in Wantirna. The vision is to develop a new public hospital, and create new opportunities for health services, employment, education and housing.

The land planned for Wantirna Health Precinct West is located at 706,750, 750A and 760 Boronia Road, Wantirna. It has a total area of 11.7 hectares, and is largely vacant.

To implement Wantirna Health Precinct West, the current planning controls need to be amended to support the new land usage.

The Victorian Government is proposing the Planning Scheme Amendment (C185knox) for land at 706, 750, 750A and 760 Boronia Road Wantirna. The proposed changes to the planning controls include:

  • Rezone land at 706 and 760 Boronia Road from the existing residential zone [General Residential Zone Schedule 1 (GRZ1)] and transport zone [Transport Zone – Category 2 (RDZ2)], to a comprehensive development zone [Comprehensive Development Zone –Schedule 3(CDZ3)] to enable health related uses on the land.
  • Rezone the land at 750/750A Boronia Road from the existing residential zone [General Residential Zone Schedule 1 (GRZ1)] to a comprehensive development zone [Comprehensive Development Zone –Schedule 4 (CDZ4)] to enable health related uses on the land.
  • Remove a vegetation planning control [Vegetation Protection Overlay –Schedule 2 (VPO2)] at 760 Boronia Road, Wantirna that currently protects a selection of trees on the land.
  • Include the Wantirna Health Precinct West Comprehensive Development Plan in the planning scheme.
