What is citizen science?

Citizen science is where people participate and collaborate in scientific research in their local nature reserves and parks. There are countless citizen science projects driven by communities all around the world.

During 2021, the City Nature Challenge events held in Knox resulted in 400 different species of animals and plants being logged by our community as well as more than 1,000 observations being made in just four days! The community also observed 76 new species in areas not previously recorded in Knox.

In the lead up to the 2022 City Nature Challenge, a global event that involves finding and recording lots of plants and animal species, we are interested to hear about your experience with citizen science.
