- Women Leading Locally
The Victorian Government is inviting women to apply for their Women Leading Locally program to develop leadership skills and campaign as candidates in council elections. Applications close 28 June 2022.
A total of 120 places will be offered in this new community leadership program. Women aspiring to stand for local council election in 2024 will be given priority.
Applications are open to women of all ages and backgrounds. Women with a strong passion for their community are encouraged to apply.
The program will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to succeed in local leadership roles. Upon completion, participants will receive a formal Certificate in Community Leadership and Governance (Local Government).
The Victorian Government has set a target of having at least 50 per cent women councillors and mayors in local government by 2025. This program was developed to help more women step into community leadership roles.
