Syringe Containers

Knox City Council provides a syringe container collection and disposal service to residents of the Knox municipality. Syringe containers in sizes from 125ml to 5 litres are available from the Knox Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South.

Sharps containers can be disposed of by returning to the Civic Centre and SHOULD NOT be discarded with general or recyclable waste.

Discarded Syringes and Needles

Knox City Council's Health Services Unit provides a collection service for discarded used syringes found on public land within the Knox municipality. If you have found a used syringe you have several options:

  • You can contact Knox Council's Health Services during opening hours on 9298 8000 and we will arrange for collection.
  • If you believe syringes could cause a direct and immediate health threat you can contact Knox Council's after hours collection service on 9298 8000. If a direct and immediate health risk is not determined then the Health Services Unit will be notified the next business day.
  • If outside of normal opening hours you can also contact the 24 hour disposal help line on 1800 552 355.
  • If you are confident enough to collect the syringes yourself you can download instructions below on how to do this safely and where you can dispose of them.
