Services for 65 years and over

Knox City Council helps residents aged 65 and over (or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) live independently at home.

We offer support, activities, and events through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) to encourage active ageing, social connection, and participation in the community.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme

Knox City Council is funded by the Australian Government to provide entry-level services under the CHSP.

All CHSP services and programs are subject to eligibility screening, assessment and availability as supported by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit the My Aged Care website to check your eligibility.

Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards

From 1 November 2025, the new Aged Care Act introduces strengthened Quality Standards to ensure older people receiving aged care are:

  • at the centre of their aged care
  • treated with dignity and respect
  • valued for their identity, culture, and diversity
  • given choice and included in aged care decisions
  • provided with understandable information
  • supported to connect to their community.

These standards set the level of care older people can expect, helping them live their best life.
