Knox has a number of local community and neighbourhood houses that offer a great range of affordable social, educational and recreational programs for people of all ages.

About Learn Local organisations

There are five Learn Local organisations and each varies in their focus and activities. They cater for many different interests and provide friendly, supportive local meeting places.

Short courses and accredited training

You can learn more about topics such as:

  • computers and technology
  • health and wellbeing
  • literacy and numeracy
  • general interest, such as beekeeping, photography, cooking
  • small business workshops.

Access to Learn Local facilities

Council's Disability Access Keys are customised accessibility guides to help visitors with disability understand what to expect when visiting local Neighbourhood Houses.

Council's Community Training Program

Knox City Council offers free workshops for individuals, community groups, clubs and not-for profit organisations who provide activities, programs and services in Knox.

If you are a volunteer, work for a not-for-profit community group or are interested in starting or joining a group, such as a local club or committee this program will be suitable for you.

Youth Services

Council’s Youth Services Team provides a range of training for young people, as well as families, parents, carers, schools, agencies and others that are advocating for young people.

Business and economic development

Knox City Council’s Economic Development program provides training to grow business and the economy in Knox.

Free training sessions for sport and leisure groups including topics such as managing events and building strong club culture.

Early Years Services Groups

Council’s Family and Children’s Services team provide training to our Early Years Volunteer Committee members including Preschool, Playgroups, Childcare and Specialist Support.

People with disabilities

Council’s Municipal Disability Leadership Team support access and inclusion for people with a disability and carers through project development, project sharing, network facilitation and partnerships. Community information sessions and workshops are held periodically.
