Competition details
The writing competition is open from Thursday 1 May 2025 and closes 11:59 pm Monday 30 June 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
Submissions will be accepted under the following age categories:
- 10 years – 12 years
- 13 years – 15 years
- 16 years – 18 years.
Entry requirements
Your entry must:
- Be your own original work which has not been created using generative AI software such as ChatGPT.
- Not contain any offensive, profane, insulting, inflammatory or defamatory material.
- No poetry in any form will be accepted (unless embedded in your short story).
- Not infringe a third party’s intellectual property e.g. no fan-fiction, or use of other author’s original material.
- Not include your name or any identifying details.
- Be submitted in English.
- Be unpublished at the time of entry.
- Not exceed the maximum word limit of 3,000 words.
- Photographic prompts are strictly optional.
- Only one entry per person. If multiple entries are received, only your last submitted piece will be judged.
Winners
The winners will be selected by the judges based on creativity and skill. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into regarding the Competition. Winners will be notified via email.
Prizes
All winning works will be published in a short story collection and will be available to borrow through Knox Library – Ngarrgoo.
