About the policy
This policy supports our commitment to achieving net zero emissions for Council operations by 2030 and creating a more resilient, liveable and sustainable municipality.

What the policy covers
The policy applies to:
- new Council buildings and facilities
- upgrades and renewals of existing Council assets
- civil infrastructure such as roads, bridges, footpaths, drainage and shared paths
- open space projects including parks, playgrounds, reserves and streetscape improvements
- maintenance of Council infrastructure funded through operational budgets.
The policy applies to Council projects valued over $150,000 and does not apply to non-Council projects.

The policy aims to:
- reduce energy, water and material use
- lower carbon emissions and operating costs
- protect waterways and biodiversity
- improve climate resilience
- support community health and wellbeing
- promote inclusive, accessible and sustainable design outcomes.
