Shopping trolleys that are not returned to the retailer are considered litter.
Why report abandoned trolleys:
Abandoned shopping trolleys can:
- be a hazard to pedestrians and road users
- harm the environment if they end up in drains and waterways
- look unsightly in our parks and reserves.
You may be fined for leaving a shopping trolley on a road, Council land, or in a Council-owned carpark outside a designated trolley area.
Retailers usually collect reported trolleys within 24 to 72 hours.
